Obituary of Rita J. Fye

FYE - Rita J. (Broad),71, of Mundys Corner, passed away January 24, 2014 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 6, 1942 in Mundy's Corner, daughter of the late William and Margaret (Seth) Broad. Preceeded in death by sisters: Theresa Witt, Mary Ellen Broad, and Margaret Dugan; and brothers Joseph and Bernie Broad. Survived by husband Ronald M. Fye, Sr., a resident at Cambria Care; and children: Ronald M. Fye, Jr., Mundy's Corner; Merle and Mary Ellen Fye, at home; Rita Jean Fye, Nanty Glo, and Joseph C. (Joyce) Fye, Greencastle; and grandchildren: Nathan, Maia, Seth, Jesse and Jarren. Also survived by brothers: Robert (Geraldine) Broad, Thomas (Rainie) Broad, and James (Peg) Broad; sister Rosie Szwast and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was a member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Mundy's Corner. She retired as a mail carrier for the postal service and at one time had served as a bus driver. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Rita's children and grandchildren were her life and she will be sadly missed by all of them. A gathering of friends will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a vigil prayer service will also be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. John Vianney Church, the Very Rev. Andrew Stanko, celebrant, followed by committal at St. Mary's Cemetery.
