Obituary of Dorothy M. George

GEORGE – Dorothy M., 90, of Butler , formerly of Ebensburg and Nanty Glo, passed away Jan. 24, 2010 at Butler Memorial Hospital . Born Sept. 28, 1919 in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Molosky) Wessel. Preceded in death by husband, Mike “Mickey” George whom she married July 3, 1941 . He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1968 ; sisters, Agnes; M. Marie Silva; and brother, William Wessel. Survived by son, Michael R. and wife Donna George, of Butler ; grandchildren, Robert and wife Laurie George of North Carolina ; Karyn and husband Terry Geracia, of Pittsburgh ; great grandchildren, Luke T. George, of North Carolina ; and Wesley G. Geracia, of Pittsburgh . Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy lived in the area for 89 of her 90 years. Last year she moved to Butler , PA to be with her son and daughter in law. Dorothy loved doing puzzle books and watching Steeler games. Until a few years ago she loved to travel. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes., Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 11am on Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal, Lloyd Cemetery , Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
