DAVIS - Clifford Jr. “Honey”, 82, of Ebensburg, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by family on September 14, 2009. Born June 14, 1927, in Twin Rocks, he was the youngest son of the late Clifford and Pearl Davis. Preceded in death and by his wife, Phyllis Lucille Hite on February 26, 1997 which ended a 42 year marriage and also siblings, Welcome (Dempsy) Davis; Harry Davis, Gladys Lloyd and Betty Foreman. He leaves behind two sons and one daughter, Clifford G. Davis married to the former Deborah Grist, Belsano; Priscilla A. married to Albert Lermineaux Jr., Mont Alto.; Robert L. Davis, Boston, MA.; four grandchildren, Eric Davis married to the former Deborah Stupsky, Winston-Salem, NC.; Christopher Stephens, Mont Alto, PA.; Katrina Davis married to Edgar Rayman, Nanty Glo; and Angela Stephens, Mont Alto, PA., four step-grandchildren, Albert Lermineaux III married to the former Sondra Kennedy, Waynesboro,; Michelle Lermineaux, AZ.; Aubree` Grist-Benitez, Altoona; and RhiAnnon Byers, Mahaffy, PA; 13 Great-Grandchildren and siblings, Alvin Davis, NY., Agnes Lanzendorfer, Twin Rocks., Florine Taylor, Nanty Glo., Charolette Wilson, FL., Nancy Settles, NY., and his former wife Mary Learn, Ebensburg. Clifford attended the United Methodist Church in Nanty Glo. Retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1982 after 30 years of service in the Cindering Plant as a mill rite. He was also a skilled brick layer. Served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and World War II as a Sergeant where he was awarded two purple hearts. Lifetime member of the VFW Post 7605, Twin Rocks. An avid hunter and fisherman for many years and loved the great outdoors. Clifford was an honest, fair and loving person who believed in the Ten Commandments and he knew through his faith in God, one day he would meet his creator. He will be sadly missed by family and friends who knew him as he made a lasting impression with his love for life. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, and from 10:30a.m.until time of funeral service at 11a.m. Thursday at the Nanty Glo United Methodist Church, the rev. John H. Snyder, officiating. Interment, United Brethren Cemetery, Belsano. Military Rite by Twin Rocks, Vintondale and Nanty Glo area veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clifford’s memory may be made to his church.
