Obituary of David Charles McMullen

McMULLEN - David Charles, 52, of Nanty Glo, passed away suddenly September 20, 2019 at home. Born June 4, 1967 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, James Jacob O'Brien and Elizabeth Tudor; and paternal grandparents Lloyd, Sr. and Irene McMullen. Survived by father, Buddy (Helen) McMullen; mother, Mary O. Sendek; and children, Rosie (fiance, Titus) McMullen; Charles; Makylie McMullen; and Buddy. Also survived by sister, Kimberly (David) Kaschalk; and brother, Daniel McMullen. Niece and goddaughter, Courtney; niece, Alexandrea; nephew, Pilot; life-long friend, Joel Stiles; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. David was an avid Penn State fan and alumni. He also loved watching anything Pittsburgh (Pirates, Steelers, & Penguins). David had attended First Baptist Church/Laurel Mountain Bible Church, Mundys Corner. David had a life-long struggle with depression and anxiety; so much so that he became a drug and alcohol counselor to help others with similar struggles. Friends will be received from 5 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating. Inurnment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to his family.
