KUBAT John A., 87, Colver, went to be with the Lord May 26, 2009, at Laurel Crest. Born July 27, 1921, in Blacklick Township, son of Albert and Victoria (Sarick) Kubat. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Helen (Sockell); sons, Albert, and wife, Marilyn (Kuzminsky) and Ronald; infant son, Richard; sisters, Katherine, Helen, Mary, Clara, Anna, Rose and Stella; and brothers, Joseph, Albert and Stanley. Survived by children: Stanley, and wife, Evon, Colver; Frances Hoffman, and husband, Bruce, Mundys Corner; Michael, and wife, Linda, Paoli; David, and wife, Leona, Ebensburg; and Robert, and wife, Ann Marie, LaFayette, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Virginia (Clouser), Hammonton, N.J.; 18 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Brother of Frank (Eileen), Florida; Margie Jones, Goldsboro; and Lillian (George) Zanin, Blacklick Township. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Former member of VFW Post 4963 and American Legion Post 363, both of Ebensburg; Colver Sportsmen; Colver Fire Company; Holy Family Parish Council; head usher; and Colver Homecoming Committee. John was a handyman for the church, such as repairing electrical, plumbing, cemetery upkeep and remodeling many projects. Enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a jack of all trades and master of all. John attended Penn State to receive his electrical degree. Retired from Bethlehem Mines 32, Revloc. Member of UMWA Local 850, Revloc. He was a baseball coach for Colver Little League teams. John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and doing many things to help his family, friends and neighbors. He will be sadly missed by all especially by his family. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Friday. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Colver, the Rev. Bernard Grega. Committal, Holy Family Cemetery, Colver.
