KERR - Alan K., 90, of N. Julian Street, Ebensburg, passed away June 30, 2009 at home. Born August 21, 1918 in Arcadia, son of the late Sherman and Mary Frances (Kline) Kerr. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years, the former June B. Oversby; sisters: Henrietta Roberts and Geneva Moreland, and brother Norman Kerr. Survived by daughters: Lynn, wife of Dr. Joseph Kelliher, Longmont, Colorado; Deborah Kerr, Johnstown; Phyllis, wife of Kirk Brown, York; and Terry, wife of David Gallardy, Ebensburg. Also survived by grandchildren Kim, Kris, Danny, Ashley, Sara and Aaron; great-grandchildren Trey, Ayden & Teagyn; and brother Richard, of Virginia. Alan enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog “Viper”. He was a member of the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #363; and the Summit Lodge #312 F & A.M. Retired from the US Postal Service in Ebensburg, he had also worked as a courier for Laurel Bank, and in his early years worked in the mines and on the railroad. A World War II Army veteran, he was the recipient of the American Theater and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbons. He was a founding member of the Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association and served on its board for many years. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m., until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, Pastor Nadine Kinkead, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. Military Ritual by local veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association
