ARFORD - Edith P., formerly of Colver, went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2009. How blessed we were to have her these many years. Born October 1, 1912 in Wehrum, daughter of the late Laird and Ressie (Rairigh) Zimmerman. At age 96, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceeded in death by her brothers George, Laird, and Samuel Zimmerman, and sisters Hazel, Anna, Hattie, and Thelma. Also preceded in death by husband, Eugene “Snakey” Arford, ending a marriage of sixty six years; infant son James; daughter Phyllis Arford Cook; son Eugene “Tubby” Arford; and grandsons Phillip Arford Cook and Clarke Cook. Survived by daughter: Beverly (Michael) Shutack and their son Paul Eugene Shutack; Daughter-in-law, Carmilla (formerly Cameletti) Arford; and her daughters Veryll (Andy) Bakner, Geannie (Frank) Quillen and Annette (Denton) Lowrey; Son-in-law, Carroll Cook, and his children: Edwin (Shannon) Cook, Virginia (David) Hickson, Patricia Cook, and Elizabeth (Scott) McMillian. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Edith lived her life loving and caring for her family and giving of herself to her friends and the Colver Presbyterian Church, where she was the oldest attending member. She will be sadly and dearly missed by all who loved her. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, the Rev. Dr. Stanley Bhasker, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery.
