Obituary of Joseph Papalia

PAPALIA– Joseph 74, Ebensburg, passed away Aug. 7, 2009, at home. Born Oct. 17, 1934, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Angelo and Nancy Papalia. Preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Kathy Papalia. Survived by wife of 49 years, Beverly (Yursky) Papalia; children, Angelo Mark, Northumberland; Jeffrey John (Megan), North Carolina; and Dana Lynn (Kevin) Reid, Florida.; and grandchildren, Tiffany Kauffman; Brielle, Marisa and Avery Papalia; and Kevani and Mekhi Reid. Also survived by sister, Mary Ann Marzulli, Florida. Member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Retired owner of Jo Ann Apparel manufacturing company of Ebensburg. Member of Italian Sons and Daughters, Ebensburg Country Club and Summit Country Club. Joe's loves included his family, golf, San Francisco Giants baseball team and reminiscing about his high school football days. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery.
