BBALL - Kathleen L. “Kay”, 58 of Crestwood Estates, Ebensburg, passed away suddenly August 23, 2009 at home. Born October 3, 1950 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Betty Blankenship. Survived by husband, John W. Ball, Jr., to whom she was married 28 years: son John W. III, and daughter Abigail, all at home. Also survived by uncle, Willis Guillinger, Pittsburgh; and cousins: Ruth Ann & David Guillinger, Pittsburgh; Susan Sanders, Alaska and LeeKay Farr, of Texas. Kay was Vice President of Marketing and Underwriting for Evergreen Insurance Associates, LLC, a division of S&T Insurance Group, LLC since 1990. She was one of the first women in Pittsburgh to earn the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation in 1978. Kay attended the University of Pittsburgh, and was active in the Insurance Agents and Brokers State Association, Laurel Highlands Insurance Professionals, Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of CPCU, Insurance Club of Pittsburgh, and served as a board member of the National Association of Insurance Woman. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Kay enjoyed reading, was an avid genealogist, and served as “Number One Fan” for her children. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m, Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at William Penn Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Contributions in Kay’s memory may be made to the Ebensburg Area Ambulance Association, charity of your choice, or by way of a blood donation to your nearest Red Cross blood bank.
