BOBER – Walter, 82, Nanty Glo, died Sept. 2, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Dec. 8, 1926, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Golda) Bober. Preceded in death by brothers: Joseph, Stanley, Louie and Frank; and sisters, Nellie and Sadie. Survived by wife, the former Lillian Dino, Nanty Glo; children: Walter Jr. (Linda), Johnstown; Mark (Linda), Nanty Glo; Mary (Bernie) Stephens, Lewistown; and Kathleen (Stephen) Howard, Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren: Apryle and Kelly Bober, Amanda and Jeffrey Stephens, and Michael and Charlie Howard; great-grandchildren, Austin George and Amber Sims; and brother, Michael, Toledo, Ohio. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. Retired coal miner from Mine 31. Army veteran of the Korean War. Member of VFW Post 3489; Polish Club, Nanty Glo; and UMWA Local 1386, and life member of Nanty Glo Fire Company. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where Legion of Mary will say the Rosary Friday, liturgical wake will be held Friday evening and Nanty Glo Fire Company service will be held at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, the Rev. Martin A. Cingle, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Military service will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
