MILLER – Bertha "Birdie," 89, Ebensburg, died Sept. 4, 2009, in Ebensburg. Born Jan. 16, 1920, in St. Boniface, daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth (Hartman) Kelly. Preceded in death by parents and husband, Edward. Survived by children: Tillie (Tom) Perry, Edward (Debbie), Rita (Joe) Bartley, Paul (Phyllis), Mary, Patrick and Michael; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas with more than 50 years membership. Longtime volunteer at Holy Name Church and school. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Sunday. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Monsignor Arnold L. Gaus. Entombment, Holy Name Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Holy Name School Angel Fund in Birdie's memory.
