KUZMINSKY – James, 83, Ebensburg, died Sept. 9, 2009, at Laurel Crest Manor surrounded by his family. Born Aug. 16, 1926, in St. Michael, son of Michael and Mary (Marcik) Kuzminsky. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Marilyn Kubat; son-in-law, Albert Kubat; sister, Margaret; and brother, Michael. Survived by wife, the former Florence (Sobleskie), whom he was married to for 63 years; son, James, married to the former Linda Shoemaker, East Taylor; daughter, Sally, wife of David Weber, Carrolltown; grandchildren: Tammy; Kristy, wife of Chad Illig; Mindy; Michael Ann; and Angela, wife of Matthew White; and great-grandchildren: Joe, Landon, Leah, Colin, Brennan, Aidan and Madison. Brother of Rosemary, wife of the late William Andreavich, Delaware; and Catherine, wife of Lawrence Hopfer, Twin Rocks; and sister-in-law, Rita Kuzminsky, Johnstown. Our beloved father was proud to have been a veteran, enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He received a letter of commendation signed by President Harry Truman for his service. He was a stockbroker and sold mutual funds in his younger days. He was retired from the Revloc Coal Mines. He ran a boarding house for elderly people for many years. He enjoyed the races and casinos. People will remember him for always giving little gifts, usually candy, wherever he went. He loved to tell stories and will truly be missed by his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held Sunday. Family also will receive friends at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Wimmer Room until time of service at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, the Rev. Jude, OSB. Committal, church cemetery.
