SHUMAN – Ila (Adams), 98, Melbourne, Fla., died peacefully Sept. 30, 2009, at Avante in Melbourne with her loving family at her side. Born Jan. 6, 1911, in Belsano, daughter of the late Samuel and Ellen Adams. Preceded in death by husband, Clair Shuman, 1989; daughters, infant Geraldine; Myrna Shuman, 1952; and Norma Thorne, 2001; grandson, Billy Thorne, 1963; sisters, Lilly Adams, Elva Nipps, Gladys Mahan, Susan Adams and Rose Ella Schwenebraten; and brothers, Laird, Bill Miles and Clayton. Ila was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by son, William C. Shuman, married to the former Patricia Upson, Melbourne, Fla.; daughter, Sandra K., wife of Edward J. Anderson, Lecanto, Fla.; special niece, Ruth (Nipps) Johnson; also 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Geno Bartoletti officiating. Interment, EUB Cemetery, Belsano.
