SHARBAUGH – Frederick H. “Fred”, 89, of Ebensburg, passed away October 26, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Born August 9, 1920 in Carrolltown, son of the late C. A. II and Ella (Williams) Sharbaugh. Preceded in death by brothers Dr. Donald G., and Rev. Col. Cornelius A. Sharbaugh, and sisters Delores and Jane Ryan. Survived by wife, the former M. Eileen Lantzy, to whom he was married 63 years and daughter Diana M. Sharbaugh, at home. Retired in 1983 as owner of the former Fred H. Sharbaugh Insurance Agency with 40 years of service. Fred was a graduate of the Cambria-Rowe Business College and did his insurance training in Hartford, Connecticut. Member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. Member, former Grand Knight and Trustee of Council #522 Knights of Columbus and member of the Prince Gallitzin Assembly K of C. A World War II Army Air Force veteran, Fred was a member of Ebensburg Post 4963 VFW, a fifty year member of Post 363 American Legion, Ebensburg L.O.O.M. Lodge, and a longtime member of Camp Nick. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8:00pm Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc. Ebensburg where a vigil prayer service will be held Thursday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus celebrant. Commital at St. Benedict’s Cemetery, Carrolltown. In lieu of flowers contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to the Holy Name School Angel Fund. A Knights of Columbus Memorial Service will be held at 7:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.
