SHERRY – Duane "Dewey," 59, Manor Drive, Ebensburg, died Nov. 19, 2009, at home as a result of an accident. Born June 26, 1950, in Spangler, son of Modestus "Dusty" and June (Sheehan) Sherry. Survived by parents, Ebensburg R.D.; wife, the former Barbara Shrift, whom he married Nov. 26, 1970, in Loretto; children, Keith (Pamela Ivory), Johnstown; Eric (Ashlie Kozlowski), Bishopville, Md.; Stephanie Russell (Dale), Johnstown; Dustin (Sarah Shingle), Johnstown; and Kurt, Johnstown; and grandchildren, Emily, Luke, Kaylee, Abbey and Lyndsey. Brother of Carol Hines (Joe), Martin (Susan Hartwig) and Eileen Itell (Ronald), Lynne Natcher (Lawrence), Diane Griffith (John "Scott") and Boyd (Mary Ellen Peacock), all of Ebensburg R.D.; sisters-in- law, Bernadette (Leonard Eckenrode), Patton; Gina Itle (Joseph), Martinsburg; and Joan (Samuel Casale), Duncansville; and brothers-in-law, Peter (Patricia Funyak), Ebensburg; Thomas, Ebensburg; Edward (Diana Shields), Altoona; Martin (Theresa Berzonsky), New Philadelphia; and Timothy, Cresson. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews and cousins. Served in the National Guard. Owned and operated Duane Sherry Trucking for more than 20 years. Duane was devoted to his family. He enjoyed riding his trike and camping. Member of Basilica of St. Michael, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Monsignor Timothy Swope, celebrant. Committal, church cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where vigil service will be held Sunday.
