Obituary of Bernard M. Long

LONG – Bernard M., 93, Ebensburg, passed away January 23, 2010. Born June 25, 1916 in New Germany, son of the late Ambrose I and Barbara (Wirfel) Long. Preceded in death by wife, Rhoda (Maus) Long, daughter Francine (Long) Nimmo, brothers: Benedict B., Albert J., Rev. Camillus, Aloysius P., Louis and Matthew A., and sisters: Armella Bopp, Sister M. DeLellis IHM, and Cleopha Frank. Survived by children: Gerald B., married to the former Carol Lyons, Ebensburg; Elizabeth A., wife of Kevin Rolfs, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ronald M., married to the former Ruth Ann Kowalczyk, Ebensburg; William J., married to the former Linda Mastaller, Ebensburg; and Stephen A., of Dubois. Also 10 grandchildren. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg. He was an Army Air Forces Veteran of World War II, a recipient of the American Theater and Victory Medals. Barney enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, riding his four-wheeler, and playing cards. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery.
