LONG – Bernard M., 93, Ebensburg, passed away January 23, 2010. Born June 25, 1916 in New Germany, son of the late Ambrose I and Barbara (Wirfel) Long. Preceded in death by wife, Rhoda (Maus) Long, daughter Francine (Long) Nimmo, brothers: Benedict B., Albert J., Rev. Camillus, Aloysius P., Louis and Matthew A., and sisters: Armella Bopp, Sister M. DeLellis IHM, and Cleopha Frank. Survived by children: Gerald B., married to the former Carol Lyons, Ebensburg; Elizabeth A., wife of Kevin Rolfs, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ronald M., married to the former Ruth Ann Kowalczyk, Ebensburg; William J., married to the former Linda Mastaller, Ebensburg; and Stephen A., of Dubois. Also 10 grandchildren. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg. He was an Army Air Forces Veteran of World War II, a recipient of the American Theater and Victory Medals. Barney enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, riding his four-wheeler, and playing cards. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Holy Name Catholic Church in Barney’s memory.
