CISZEK – Elizabeth (Gaydos), RN, 90, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Feb. 12, 2010, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md. Born May 27, 1919, in Cambria County, daughter of the late George and Eva (Humaney) Gaydos. Predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Stanley F. Ciszek. As a teen, she was a member of the Twin Rocks Sodality group. Graduated in 1947 from the Kings County Hospital School of Nursing, Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps. She married in a double wedding with her sister, Anne, and worked as a charge nurse at Westmoreland County Nursing Home, Greensburg. She was active in St. Agnes and St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Roman Catholic churches, North Huntingdon, as a Christian Mother, religious instructor, lector and Rosary group member. She loved classical music, served as a docent at Westmoreland Museum of American Art and was a literacy volunteer. Elizabeth is predeceased by her brother, George Gaydos, and her sisters, Eve Zanin, Anne McHugh and Mary Sharp. She is survived by brothers, Charles Gaydos and Edward Gaydos, and sister, Sister Margaret Gaydos, DW. Beloved mother of six surviving daughters, Anne (Harold) Liller, Canfield, Ohio; Martha Ciszek Jaffe, Nishinomiya, Japan; Mary Beth (Doug) Siegert, Pittsburgh; Lynn (Alan) Kellerman, Sharpsburg, Md.; Monica (Dr. Frederick) Kapinos, Longmeadow, Mass.; and Meg (Charles) Bartley, Jefferson, Md.; and her 12 grandchildren, H.J., Louise and Matt (Terri) Liller, Ben (Natalie), Andrew, Susan and Stephen Siegert, Frederick S., Alex and Christina Kapinos, Eve Shafi and Muriel Bartley; three great-grandchildren, Lexie Liller, Harper Liller and Nathan Siegert; and any wonderful nephews and nieces. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Timothy and Mark Roman Catholic Church, Twin Rocks. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to Father Walter J. Ciszek Prayer League, 231 N. Jardin St., Shenadoah, Pa. 17976, official organization for the canonization of Father Ciszek.
