WESLEY - John D., 92 of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2010 at Miner’s Medical Center. Born April 24, 1917 in Spangler, son of the late Edward and Kathryn (Daubert) Wesley. Preceded in death by sister, Emma Roberts. Survived by wife of 62 years, the former Alyce (McGough) Wesley and children: Kathryn, wife of Anthony Belgin; and David, married to the former Lisa Cazara, all of Ebensburg; grandchildren: Tonya (Belgin) wife of Dr. David Drexler, Kildeer, Illinios; Jason Belgin, married to the former Gina Lorenzi, Berwyn, Illinios; and Ben and Emily Wesley, Ebensburg. Also survived by great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ari, and Alayna Drexler and Sofia Belgin. John was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He served as a Tech Sergeant in the Army Signal Corp during World War II, the recipient of the American Theatre Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with three bronze stars and the Philippine Liberation Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars. He retired as an electrician from Bethlehem Mine #33. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Summit Lodge #312 F & A.M., a member of Ebensburg Post 3963 V.F.W., and the Horseshoe Amateur Radio Club in Altoona. John was an amateur radio operator since World War II. A member of the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church. John enjoyed reading, photography, amateur radio and spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, Pastor Jim Farrer and Rev. Lynn M. Miller, officiating. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military Ritual by the Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team will be at the church service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to the Ebensburg-Cambria Public Library.
