NEWCOMER – Jack L. Jr., 61, Mineral Point, died March 1, 2010, at home. Born March 5, 1948, in Johnstown, son of the late Jack L. and Mary Jane (Burkhart) Newcomer. Survived by wife, the former Eva Bruckner, Mineral Point; children, Jack L. Newcomer III, Mineral Point; Samuel Newcomer, Nanty Glo; Thomas (Heather) Newcomer, Nanty Glo; and Mary Jane (Anthony) Daughenbaugh, Mineral Point; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Brother of Georgia (Michael) Matta, Harrisburg; Ann (Richard) Brown, Nanty Glo; Ida Altimus, Nanty Glo; Eva Wiemer, Carlisle; Thomas, Ohio; and Edward, Nanty Glo. He was a retired coal miner, and a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Member and commander of Nanty Glo VFW Post 3489, and a member of Nanty Glo Polish Club. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bowser- Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nanty Glo VFW. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. Veteran service will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
