Morris, Nathan J. "Nate", 19, Highland Avenue, Revloc, died April 15, 2005 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Born July 22, 1985 in Johnstown, son of Henry and Susan (McCoy) Morris. Survived by parents, sister Meghan, and brother Shane, all at home. Also maternal grandparents: Richard & Roberta McCoy, Ebensburg; paternal grandmother Odessa Morris, Carrolltown; Maternal Aunts & Uncles: Catherine Maderia, Erin Lacue, Patrick, Michael & Robert McCoy; Paternal Uncles: Don Alt, Roger, Eugene, Larry, David, Wayne, Dan & Ron Morris; and special cousins Heather, Tara, Sheena, Jake, Cody, Amanda & Luke McCoy; Ben Maderia, Kevin & Shawn Lacue, Travis & Makayla. Nate was a loving son, brother, grandson, and a wonderful friend.
Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church. Nate was a graduate of the Central Cambria High School, where he excelled in Football, Wrestling, and Track & Field. A student at Slippery Rock Univeristy and member of the Rocket Football Team. Nate's football honors included being a 2000 District VI AAA Champion, PA Big 33 Football Classic Nominee in 2003 and recipient of the Ken Lantzy Defensive Lineman M.V.P. award; Southern Alleghenies Coaches Association M.V.P. and East/West All Star Game participant. Wrestling Honors included 2 time District VI AA Heavywieght champion (2002 & 2003), 2-time PIAA State Medalist, Recognized in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a PA State Champion and having tied the Central Cambria wrestling record for the most wins in a single season (36 wins). He was a 3-year district qualifier in the shot put and discus for track. He was the recipient of the George Mihalik Sr. Memorial Football Scholarship for Slippery Rock University, recipient of the Superintendents Award at Central Cambria and a member of Who's Who Among American High School Students.
Friends will be received from 7-9 pm Saturday and 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Sunday evening. Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
