DOW – Beverly L. (Minnix), 79, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family April 1, 2010 at home. Born January 1, 1931 in Indiana, daughter of the late Roy and Garnet (Patton) Minnix. Preceded in death by an infant brother. Survived by husband George “Spider” Dow, to whom she was married 60 years, and children: Neal (Sheila) Dow, Canonsburg; Patricia (Tom) Hajzus, Peters Twp.; and Rebecca (Howard) Scott, of Johnstown. Also survived by grandchildren: Alexis (Robert) Campbell; Brianna Dow; Tyler and Aly Hajzus; Ryan, Dionne and Christy Scott, a sister Pamela (Travis) Andrews, of Brisbane, Australia, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Bev was a member of the Ebensburg United Church of Christ, where she had sung in the choir many years ago. She loved traveling and was fortunate to tour Australia and nine countries in Europe along with many destinations here at home. A great mother, grandmother and homemaker, she loved dancing and was proud of her title as “prettiest cheerleader in Cambria County” in 1948. A member of the Ebensburg Post 4863 VFW Auxillary, and a former cub scout den mother. She had also worked at the former Shadden’s Store in Ebensburg. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Marie Paterik, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Conemaugh Regional Hospice, 1086 FranklinStreet, Johnstown, PA 15905.
