BEDNAR – Francis Paul “Fritz,” 80, Nanty Glo, died April 10, 2010, at Windber Hospice. Born Oct. 21, 1929, in Nanty Glo, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kachik) Bednar. Preceded in death by wife, the former Venetta “Nettie” Hagens, and brothers, Joseph, George, Andy and Edward. Survived by stepdaughters, Judy Price and Gaylene (Mick) Little, all of Nanty Glo; many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Charney, Nanty Glo, and Helen (Carl) LaMonica, Niceville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Frances Bednar, Nanty Glo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary’s Church, Nanty Glo. Retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. Member VFW Post 3489; American Legion Post 619; Moose Lodge 207; and the Polish Club, all of Nanty Glo, and the International Association of Turtles. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where liturgical wake will be held Tuesday. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Martin A. Cingle. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery. Veterans service will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
