WOLF – Donald J., 92, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully May 21, 2010 at home. Born October 6, 1917 in Ebensburg, son of the late John A. and Edna (Evans) Wolf. Preceded in death by special son Lane A., an infant son and daughter, and sisters: Naomi Anin, Leone Eivers, and Gretchen Straple, and brother John A. Wolf. Survived by wife, the former Charlotte Lane Wolf, to whom he was married 62 years and daughters Ellen Wolf Grove and Sarah Wolf Wess and son-in-law Theodore Wess. Also survived by grandchildren: James L. and Charlotte Grove; Alex, Bruce, and Victor Wess; sisters Daryle Withington and Barbara McFadden, and brother David Rodney Wolf. Don graduated from the former Ebensburg-Cambria High School and from the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was an Eagle Scout and Scout Leader. Don was the owner and operator of Appledale Public Golf Course Inc., and the former owner of Ebensburg Auto Co., Inc. He was president of the Business Men’s Organization, served on the Water Authority, and on the Board of the Cambria County Historical Society. He served as chairman of the Steering Committee for the year long celebration of Cambria County’s 150th Anniversary and again for the County’s 200th celebration. At the request of Don there will be no visitation. A A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30th at the Appledale Golf Course Lounge. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. Arrangements by the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
