CHARNEY – Mary (Stossel), 88, West Palm Beach, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Morse Geriatric Center, West Palm Beach, when stricken with end stage Alzheimer’s Disease. Born Sept. 8, 1921, in Twin Rocks. She married Alex Charney who predeceased her. Survived by her children, Jeff, and his wife, Ilse, Rye Brook, N.Y.; Carolyn “Cookie,” and her husband, Dr. Michael Gervasi, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and Mary, and her husband, Alex Ferravante, Trumbull, Conn.; grandchildren, Heather, Marc, Bradley Petersen, Chad, Alex and Cole; and great-grandchildren, Madison and Michael. Also survived by sisters, Helen Varljen, Rose Folga, Marguerite Saxman and Anne Smartz; and brother, John Stossel. Mary was a quiet person who loved her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. She was cremated and a general Mass in her intention will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at St. John Vianney Church, Mundys Corner. Following the Mass, her remains will be buried at her husband, Alex’s, gravesite. Please say a prayer or make a donation in her name to your favorite charity.
