KANE – Grace (McCoy), of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully November 14, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Born May 7, 1926 in Ebensburg, daughter of the late Ralph and Nettie (Chirdon) McCoy. Predeced in death by husband of 53 years, Paul L. Kane, son-in-law James Roberts, and brothers John and Howard McCoy. Survived by children: Daniel (Claudia) Kane, Ebensburg; Michael Kane, Columbus, Ohio; Margaret (Peter) Lucas, Ebensburg; Mary (Kenneth) Bender, Indiana; Susan (Darell) Bowman, Ebensburg; Mark (Annette) Kane, Treasure Lake; Paula (James) Roberts, Ebensburg; Thomas (Susan) Kane, Ebensburg; Patricia (Jay) Roberts, Portage; Matthew, Ebensburg; Joseph (Jodine) Kane, Murrysville; Elizabeth (Anthony) Montagnese, Palmyra; Robert (Kristen) Kane, Indiana, Pa.; 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Sister of Richard (Roberta) McCoy of Ebensburg: Paul (Sue) McCoy, Atlanta, Georgia; and Marie Anderson, Ord, Nebraska. Longtime member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, where she was active in the evening rosary group and was proud to be a daily communicant. Member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. In addition to raising her family, Grace was fortunate to be able to volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program, the Talus Rock Girl Scouts, and served as a volunteer and former treasurer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Along with her late husband, she enjoyed travel, golf, water and snow skiing and membership in the Rotaryannes and the Ebensburg Women’s Club. She was one of the first “Valley Girls”, a group of ladies who frequented the Valley Dairy every morning after mass. Grace was appropriately nick-named “Amazing Grace” by her family. Friends will be received from 1-4 & 6-9 pm, Tuesday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Grace’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
