GITTINGS – Harry Edward, 77, formerly of Ebensburg and Colver, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 in Darlington, South Carolina. Born February 26, 1933 in Ebensburg, son of the late Harry W. and Kathleen (Curry) Gittings. Survived by his loving wife, Karen Learn Gittings, to whom he was married 29 years; sons: Harry Edward (Terri) Gitting, Jr., Jacksonville, NC; Brad Gittings, Florida; daughters: Barbie Gittings, Apryl Gittings and Cheryl Gittings, all of Ohio; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers: Dean (Mary) Gittings, Ebensburg; Bob Gittings, Patton; and Roy Gittings, Colver; sisters: Shirley (Joe) Leskoski, Gail Novak, both of Revloc; and Joan Carns, Ebensburg. Father-in-law and mother-in-law Edwin and Marilyn Learn, Ebensburg; brother-in-law Randy (Pam) Learn, Beaver; Craig Learn, Ebensburg; sisters-in-law Marcey (Rick) Karashin, Ebensburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Harry retired from Bethlehem Mines and the State of Maryland. After retirement, he tied a snow shovel to his truck and headed south; when people asked “what’s that?”, he settled in Darlington, South Carolina where he lived 13 happy years. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar racing, and was an avid Steeler and Penn State fan. He enjoyed many happy vacations in Myrtle Beach and the Florida Keys with his wife. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Dr. Frank Brosius, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery.
