MULVEHILL – William J. “Dick”, 83, Ebensburg, died December 8, 2010 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born February 22, 1927 in Johnstown, son of Robert S. “Chick” and Elizabeth (Edmiston) Mulvehill. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Robert Mulvehill, Jr. and sister, Louise Anderson. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Gretchen (McCann) Mulvehill, and devoted daughters, Nan Stufflebeem and husband John, Alexandria, VA; Beth McGregor, Ebensburg; and Lynn Keyser and husband Craig, Petersburg, NJ. He will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Megan (Nick) Manzo, Lauren (Joey) Rossiter, Maura McGregor, Shane McGregor, Ian Keyser, Kieran Keyser, Gretchen Keyser and great grandchild, Ava Manzo. Also survived by sister Suzanne (Paul) Scaramozzino, Altoona; brother-in-law, J. William (Susan) McCann, Johnstown, and nephew, Robert (Patty) Mulvehill III, Ebensburg. Dick graduated from Saint Francis College and received a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He joined his father, Chick, in business as an electrical contractor. Dick retired as the director of Admiral Peary Vo-Tech School, Ebensburg, after 20 years of service in teaching and administration. He was a lifelong member of Holy Name Church and served on the Church Building and Grounds Committee. He served the community as past member of the Ebensburg Borough Sewer and Water Authority, Rotary Club, and the Kiwanis Club. He was past commandant and active member of the Lake Glendale Sailing Club. Dick was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Cambria County Historical Society. He received the 1991 Man of the Year Award from the Penns Woods Council, Boy Scouts of America. Dick was a master woodworker known for his handcarved Old World Santa Clauses and handcrafted furniture. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed sailing, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Holy Name School Angel Fund, 500 N. Julian, Ebensburg, Pa., 15931 or to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, P.O. Box 57, Loretto, Pa. 15942
