Obituary of Shirley Jane Martin

MARTIN – Shirley Jane, 82, Ebensburg, went to heaven to be with our Lord Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Golden Living Center-HAIDA, Hastings. Born April 18, 1928, in Johnstown, daughter of Gomer and Elizabeth (Faish) Evans. Preceded in death by parents; beloved husband, John K. Martin Sr.; son, John K. Martin Jr.; sisters, Alice Summerson and Betty Elliott and brothers, Benjamin Evans and William Evans. Survived by children, Sandra Reese, Maryland; Paul, married to the former Louise McKeel, Mundys Corner; and Gregory Martin, Maryland; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Shirley loved going to church, senior citizens center daily and enjoyed all their activities, such as bingo, line dancing and trips. Her other activities included walking, sewing, singing and crocheting. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends and others she touched in her life. We would like to extend a special thanks to Vivian Anstead of Ebensburg who was Shirley’s best friend and caregiver for 1 1/2 before going to Golden Living Center. At Shirley’s request, there will be no public viewing or visitation. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation, 100 W.
