DATSKO – Mary, 86, Ebensburg, formerly of Portage, passed away Jan. 6, 2011, at Rebekah Manor, Northern Cambria. Born Aug. 15, 1925, in Portage Township, daughter of John and Mary (Dudek) Kmiecik. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Steve Kmiecik; and nephew, Stephen Kmiecik. Survived by loving husband of 35 years, Steve Datsko, Ebensburg; son, Lawrence Kmiecik, married to the former Marianne Romasco, Walkersville, Md.; stepson, Randy Datsko, and wife, Cynthia, Ebensburg; five grandsons; and three great-grandsons. Sister of John Kmiecik, married to the former Ellen Strachan, Reiserstown, Md.; and Dolores, wife of Neil Ferringer, North East, Pa. Mary was formerly employed as a waitress at Cough’s Restaurant and Jamestown PNA. She worked in the Portage Silk Mill, and last worked as a route checker at Portage Cleaners. Member of Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Revloc; ladies auxiliary of Ebensburg VFW and Jamestown PNA; and ZPA Lodge 721. She also was an avid polka dancer. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mountain Avenue, Portage, Father Ronald V. Osinski, VF, celebrant. Committal, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Portage.
