Obituary of Irene Elizabeth Mehalko

WORTHINGTON- Irene Elizabeth, 73, of Nanty Glo, passed away Jan. 9, 2011 at home. Born Dec. 18, 1937 in Cardiff, daughter of the late John and Mary (Worchesky) Mehalko. Preceeded in death by grandson, Michael Worthington; brothers, Raymond and Robert Mehalko; an infant sister; sister in law, Patty Mehalko; and brother in law, Mike Krupa. Survived by husband of 50 years, Wayne Raymond Worthington; sons, Terry and wife Susan, Richard and fiancé Terry, both of Ebensburg; Theodore and wife Sandy; and Brandon and wife Raeann, both of Nanty Glo. Grandchildren, Nicole, Terry Wayne, Teddy, Matt, Jerrid, Zachary and Lainee. Great Grandchildren, Taylor Weiland, Michaela Worthington and Noah Michael Hensal. Also survived by brothers, Walter Mehalko, Pittsburgh; and Frank and wife Marie Mehalko, Nanty Glo; sister, Pauline Krupa, Twin Rocks; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo; Legion of Mary; and was an avid bingo player. Retired RSA Supervisor from the Ebensburg State School. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10am on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Irene’s memory may be made to her church.
