BARNICLE - John H., 72, Beaverdam, Va., formerly of Carrolltown, died May 17, 2005, at home. Born July 2, 1932, in Colver, Pa., the son of Hanford and Gertrude (Kane) Barnicle. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by children, Jeannette B. Purvis, Beaverdam; Laura Makharita, Vienna, Va.; Roselyn Duncan, Herndon, Va.; and Paul Barnicle, New Bern, N.C., and by 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Barbara Nagle, Altoona; Janet Barnicle, Pittsburgh; Elaine Link, Ebensburg; and Ann Scalise, Northern Cambria; brother, Patrick Barnicle, Carrolltown; also by numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from the CIA and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Committal, church cemetery.
