SKILES – John E., Sr. “Jack”, 86, of Ebensburg, passed away July 2, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 27, 1925 in Johnstown, son of the late Harry Sr. and Sara Mae (Callio) Skiles. Preceded in death by brother, Raymond; sisters, Evelyn, Elizabeth, Sally and Ruth. Survived by wife of 63 years, the former Rose Ella Korb; and children, John E. Skiles, Jr.; Jill A. (Ken) Stone; Judy L. Ken) Byrne; and Jean L. (Mike) Lee. 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Harry Jr., and Richard; sister, Margaret Benson; and numerous nieces and nephews. WW II Navy veteran. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 36 years of service. Jack resided in Johnstown for two years after he married then later moved to Ebensburg where he lived ever since. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He loved playing his fiddle and guitar; and enjoyed bluegrass music. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends whom he loved dearly. Friends will be received from 2:30 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, the Rev. Kevin Stock, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in Jack’s memory may be made to his family.
