THOMAS – Katherine L “Betty”, 86, of Ebensburg, passed away July 22, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born May 23, 1925 in Spangler, daughter of the late William B. and Beulah M. Lewis. Preceded in death infant daughter Dawn Jean Thomas, sister Leona Dukes, brothers William P. and Roy Lewis and brother-in-law Mike Bozurich. Survived by husband of 65 years, Alvin J. Thomas, Sr., and children: Kathryn (Wade) Rager; Alvin J. Jr “Joe” (Dee) Thomas; and Nancy (Cliff) Bish; and grandchildren: Will Rager, Karen (Robert Jr.) Wertz, Christopher (Marquita) Rager, Tammy (William) Ray, Heather (Thomas) Malay, Jennifer (Bruce) Drye, and J. Scott (Kristen) Bish, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, James C. (Mary Jane) Lewis; sister, Margaret “Peg” Bozurich and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty loved RV-ing, cooking, and fishing. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, officiating. Interment at St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to Holy Name Church.
