LEONARD - Mary E. “Betty” (Emerson), 93, longtime resident of Mundy's Corner and more recently of Rebekah Manor, Ebensburg, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2011. Born July 10, 1918, in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Stephen K. and Mary (Arndt) Emerson. Preceded in death by husband, M. Loy Leonard; brother, Thomas “Bud” Emerson; and son-in-law Darrell Carney. Survived by daughters Sally (Robert) Albright, Mundy’s Corner and Connie Carney, New Buffalo, Michigan. Also survived by grandchildren, Terry Lynn Albright, Mundy’s Corner; Brian (Sandy) Albright, Alabama; Darrell (Lauren) Carney Jr., Maryland; David (Pam) Carney, Texas; Deborah (Brian) Russell, Michigan; Dawna (Jason) Hinman, Indiana; and eight great grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Jean Fair of Michigan and numerous nephews and nieces. Member of the Pike Grace Brethren Church where she served as a deaconess and Sunday School teacher for many years. Betty was an avid animal lover and enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and candy making. She loved sharing her handiwork and crafts with relatives and friends. Betty is now at home with her Lord and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, Pastor Drew Walther officiating. Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Betty’s name can be made to the Humane Society of Cambria County (743 Galleria Drive, Johnstown, PA 15904) or the Singer Hill Grace Brethren Library (2980 Wm. Penn Ave. Johnstown, PA 15909).
