FAISH - Anna (Sowolla), 91, of Nanty Glo, passed away August 22, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 20, 1916 in Blacklick, daughter of the late George and Justina (Petryk) Sowolla. Preceded in death by husband Peter Faish, who died August 5, 1984; brothers: John, Michael, Andrew, and George Sowolla; and sisters Mary Wolsky, Helen Rivera and little Helen Sowolla. Survived by daughter, Joyce Ann (Faish) Brown, with whom she resided; grandchildren: Robert W. Brown, Batavia, New York; Janet L. (Timothy) Cook, East Bethany, New York; and Deborah A Maniace of Batavia, New York; also Great-Grandchildren: Cory, Jennifer (Jake), Cody, Matthew, Justina, LeeAnna and Maria. Sister of Stephen Sowolla, Revloc and Harry Sowolla, Bethesda, Maryland. Also survived by great-great grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Anna was a lifelong member of Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Nanty Glo, where she had served in numerous offices over the years and sang in the church choir. A 27 year member of the Nanty Glo Fire Ladies Auxillary, she also enjoyed bowling, bingo, and bus trips to the casinos with her friends. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m, Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where Parastas will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Brief Service at 9:30 a.m , Monday at the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Ascension Church, the Very Rev. Fr. George Hnatko, officiating. Interment at Holy Ascension Cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Anna's family.
