SHERMAN - Marjorie Lucille “Marge”, 69, Richland Twp., passed away December 17, 2011 at Windber Hospice. Born October 20, 1942 in Butler, daughter of the late Otto Davis and Rita (Gerstner) Sherman. Survived by beloved sisters, Ellen, wife of Wilbert Wehr, Butler; Mary Whitesell, wife of Randy Everett, Slippery Rock; and brothers: David (Donna) Sherman, Parker, Pa; James (Margaret) Sherman, and Thomas (Donna) Sherman, all of Butler; and Stephen (Charlene) Sherman, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Marge grew up in Butler and was a graduate of Carlow College and Duquesne University. She taught in the Catholic School System for seven years followed by a thirty year career with the Pennsylvania Public School System. Upon retirement, Marge spent many hours volunteering in the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s Emergency Financial Assistance Office in Johnstown. At Marge’s request there will be no viewing. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 am, Thursday December 22, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler; Reverend Steve V. Neff celebrant, and Reverend James F. Murphy concelebrant. Committal at Calvary Cemetery, Butler at a later date. In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, 146 Hawthorne Road, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15209 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (EFA), 927 Franklin St., Johnstown, Pa. 15905. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
