Obituary of Clara L. Smith

SMITH - Clara L. (Simmers), 83, Nanty Glo, died June 20, 2005, at home. Born Nov. 25, 1922, in Belsano, daughter of the late James and Susan (Grant) Simmers. Preceded in death by husband, Clifford; and brothers and sisters: James, Mary McDonald, Alice Cunningham, Helen Smith, Mamie Boring and Joe. Survived by children: Carol Kupchella, and husband, Thomas; Clifford, married to former Christine Barther; and Cathleen Yanosky, and husband, Albert, all of Nanty Glo; also nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Bob, and wife, Ida, Nanty Glo; and sisters, Mildred Bellish, Trenton, N.J.; and Dorothy Lonergan, and husband, Paul, Nanty Glo; special friend, Michael Owatt; and many nieces and nephews. Member of Nanty Glo United Methodist Church; Democratic Women's Club, Nanty Glo; Nanty Glo Fire Ladies Auxiliary; and Nanty Glo VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Former employee of Nanty Glo Dress Factory, Blacklick Valley cafeteria and the grandmother program at IU8. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Nanty Glo United Methodist Church, the Rev. John Snyder officiating. Interment to follow in Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundys Corner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nanty Glo United Methodist Church.
