MOCK– William “Bill” E., 61, Clarksville, Pa., formerly of Ebensburg, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, from injuries sustained in a coal mining accident in the Blacksville No. 2 Mine of Consolidated Coal, Blacksville, W.Va. Born April 13, 1951, in Johnstown, son of the late William R. Mock and Lucy (Mangus) Mock of Munster, who survives. Also survived by wife, the former Barbara Koegler, whom he married Aug. 3, 1974, in Loretto; children, Beverly Rathbun, and husband, Edward, Pittsburgh; Patricia Dean, and husband, James, Rices Landing; Darrell, and wife, the former Heather Tuman, Monessen; six grandchildren, Mitch Proctor, Melayna Jyachosky, William Rathbun, Damian Swarrow, Lucas Swarrow, and Zander Swarrow. Brother of Paul, Munster; Carol Malone (Bob) Colver; Pat (Jackie Dunmyer) Munster; Charlie, Loretto; Cathy Byrne (Denny), Ebensburg; Mary Driskel (Mick), Loretto; and Christine Alvarez (Andy), Ebensburg. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a 1969 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, Ebensburg, and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve, where he served as a first sergeant for more than 18 years and was attached to the 485th Chemical Battalion in Johnstown. Bill was an underground coal miner for more than 37 years, working for Bethlehem Mines, Mine 31, Nanty Glo; Eighty-Four Mining Co.; Zendiker Station Portal; and lastly for Consolidated Coal in Blacksville, W. Va. He enjoyed NASCAR and World of Outlaws Sprint Car Racing and had a passion for skeet shooting. He was a Pennsylvania chief referee for sanctioned skeet shooting events and also a master referee for the World Skeet Shoot held in San Antonio, Texas. Member of the United Mine Workers of America, Washington County Sportsmen’s Club, Pennsylvania Skeet Association, National Skeet Shooting Association and the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Allen Zeth, celebrant. Committal will be private. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, Beallsville, Pa., and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held Tuesday. Military rites in charge of Loretto American Legion and other local military organizations.
