SHOCKEY - Harold L., 81, Moxham, died July 12, 2005, at Select Specialty Hospital. Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Pocahontas, Greenville Township, Somerset County, son of the late Henry and Mae (Jones) Shockey. Also preceded in death by brothers, Edison, Carl, Freeman, Roy and Leonard; and sisters, Charlotte Willey and Pearl McKenzie. Survived by loving wife of 58 years, the former Mary Margaret Minnick; daughters, Connie, wife of Joseph McGinty, Salix, and Diane, wife of Charles Fox, Westmont; grandchildren, Christine Strugala, Melissa Pastorek and Shawn McGinty; great-grandchild, Abbie Pastorek; and sister, Verda Werner, Finzel, Md. Harold was the owner of Shockey Plumbing and Heating; a staff sergeant with the Army Air Corps, serving as a radio operator during World War II with the 44th Bomber Group known as the Flying 8-Balls; a life member of BPOE 175; a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 155, the Geistown and North Fork country clubs and he was a Lutheran by faith. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills, 921 Menoher Blvd., where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Swanson officiating, and where military rites will be held courtesy of the Marine Corps League. Interment, Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society. (Webmaster's Note - Mr. Shockey is the grandfather of Ebensburg's Community Development Director, Christine Strugala)
