LINK – Edna (Nelen) 77, of Nicktown R.D., passed away December 3, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Born January 10, 1935 in Chest Springs, daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Smith) Nelen. Preceded in death by son Donald Joseph Link, grandson Doug Lewis Link, son-in-law Francis Wirfel, and eight brothers and sisters. Survived by husband, Clyde Link, to whom she was married 57 years and these children: Theresa, wife of Theodore Cromling, North Carolina; Barbara, wife of Vern Colgan, Acme, Pa.; Earl, married to the former Loreen Stiles, Nicktown; Patricia Link and partner Sheila Chambers, West Virginia; Linda, wife of William O’Connor, Virginia; Jean, wife of Alan Wirfel, Portage; Cynthia, wife of Tim Henderson, Revloc, and Catherine, wife of Matthew Bouch, Belsano. Also 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Sister of Mary Buck, Hastings and Sr. Theresa Nelen, C.C.W., Ebensburg. Edna was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, Nicktown. She enjoyed quilting and painting and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She assisted her husband on the family farm. Special thanks are extended to Edna’s caregivers at the Home Nursing Agency, especially Peggy, Sarah, Lori, Amy, Donna and Amanda. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at St. Nicholas Church, the Rev. Fr. Chad Ficorilli, O.S.B., celebrant. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
