HOOVER – David P. “Dave,” 72, Pittsburgh, formerly of Ebensburg, died Dec. 27, 2012, at home. Born July 28, 1940, in Johnstown, son of Dr. Harry G. and Emilie P. (Patton) Hoover. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Alan G. Hoover. Survived by wife, the former Jean (Sidone) Hoover; sons, Kevin (Armando) and Geno (Judy); and grandchildren, Emilie, Samuel and Eden. Brother of Anna Jean Sebralla and Molly Snizek. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, and mother-in-law, Mary Sidone, Revloc. Dave retired from Cambria County in 1999 after many years of service. “Pap” adored his grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. His face would light up when they came to visit him. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan. Dave found pleasure in the simple things in life, and he will be missed by those who loved and knew him. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Matevish & Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Sunday. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Monsignor Arnold L. Gaus. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Dave’s memory to COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27 Ave., Suite 302, Miami, Fla., 33133-9961.
