KOKUS - George, 92 of Oviedo, Florida, formerly of Colver, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 in Florida. Born April 1, 1920 in Madera, son of the late Martin & Palagia (Kowalchik) Kokus. He is survived by his wife, Anna (Gherardi) Kokus; daughter, Maryann Lehman; son, George S. Kokus; brothers, Michael and Nick Kokus; sisters, Mary and Catherine Kokus; and four grandchildren. Retired from the former Eastern Gas & Fuel Company Mine in Colver. A World War II Army veteran, he was the recipient of the EAME Theater Ribbon with six bronze stars, the Bronze Arrowhead, and the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. A brief service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Revloc, the Rev. Fr. Andrew Krasulski, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. Military graveside rite by the Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team.
