KOSTELNIK – George “ Jiggs,” 91, Colver, died Feb. 18, 2013, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born April 29, 1921, in Latrobe, son of Michael and Anna (Bojanoski) Kostelnik. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Bonnie Hughes; brother, Michael; sisters, Susan, Mary, Margaret and Mildred; stepbrother, Andy; grandson, Adam Kostelnik; and father and mother-in-law, George and Kathryn Hughes. Survived by children, Timothy (Connie); Darlene; and George (Tammy); brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Mary Hughes; grandchildren, Brian, Matthew (Stephanie), Adrienne (Matthew) and Jeremy; great-grandson, Gabe; and special friend, Betty Stocker his caretaker. Army veteran of World War II serving in the 32nd Infantry. Life member of VFW Post 4963, Ebensburg. Member of UMWA Local 860, Colver. Member of Cambria County Old Timers Industrial Baseball Association and he was a big Green Bay Packers football fan. A special thanks to the staff at St. Benedict Manor, Palliative Care Unit Conemaugh Hospital and Cambria County Adult Day Care. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev James Farrer. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Colver Fire Company or Colver Presbyterian Church, in George’s memory.
