SACKIE - Albert G., 78, Nanty Glo, died Aug. 9, 2005, at Select Specialty Care. Born Nov. 12, 1926, in Susquehanna Township, son of the late Stephen and Mary (Litavesh) Sackie. Preceded in death by wife, Anna; brother, Robert; and sister, Barbara Kwasnicki. Beloved father of Mary Ann Gongloff, and husband, William, Nanty Glo; William, and wife, the former Doreen Fuller, Nanty Glo; Deborah Harvey, and husband, Dennis, Ebensburg; Barbara Sackie, Texas; and Katherine Deskevich, and husband, Thomas, Ebensburg; beloved grandfather of John, Bill and Shannon Gongloff; Phillip and Justin Manculich; and Ashley Deskevich; and beloved great-grandfather of Kira, Hailee and Kaden. Also survived by brothers, John, Fred and Stephen, and sisters, Dorothy Sackie, Margaret Sackie and Patricia Blankenship. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. Retired after 44 years in the coal mines. Was a Navy veteran of World War II. Served on the USS Menifee. Received the Pacific and American Theater ribbons and the Victory medal. Member of the Nanty Glo VFW, Post 3489, and UMWA Local 1386. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where Liturgical wake service will be Friday evening. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo, Father David Peles, celebrant. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo. Military rites will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
