Obituary of H. Matthew Gearhart IV

GEARHART - H. Matthew IV, 36, of Mineral Point, passed away Dec. 9, 2013 as a result of an asthma attack. Born Aug. 14, 1977 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Howard and LaVera Mickey; paternal grandfather, Harry Gearhart, Jr.; and uncle, Bob Callis. Survived by paternal grandmother, Julia Gearhart; father, Harry R. (Cindy) Gearhart III; mother, Deborah (special friend, Ken Edwards) Gearhart; daughter, Julia Gearhart; brother, James; step brothers, Shawn and Jason Divido; step sister, Monica Kent; niece, Jamisyn Gearhart; sister in law, Gretchen Gearhart; cousins, Rob Callis-Keiser; Amy Keiser; and Lori Sciko; numerous other cousins and special friends; as well as his special dog, Gunner. Formerly employed by Shaffer Electric, Boswell and Johnstown Wire Technologies. He was an avid supporter of raising monies in the fight against cancer and member of "A Few Good Believers". Matt was a very generous, helpful man, who you could always depend on. He will be sadly missed by the many lives that he has touched. Family and friends will be received from 5 p.m. until time of memorial service at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, Deacon Jim Janosik, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Matt's memory may be made to the Cambria County Humane Society.
