Obituary of Elivira Mastrine

MASTRINE Elivera Vera, 91, John Paul II Manor, Cresson, passed away Jan 21, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born May 4, 1922, in Horning, Pa., daughter of Carlo and Giovanni Girolami. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Duelleo (Tex) Mastrine; sisters, Yolla and Nora; and brothers, Luigi, Nello and Medio. Survived by sisters, Rose Furnari and Johanna Semko, Colver; and brothers, Virginio, Ebensburg; and Adelio, Colver. Also survived by sons, Ronald, married to the former Diana Nedock; and Leonard, married to the former Darlene Cazara, all of Ebensburg; grandchildren, Matthew Mastrine, O.D., Pittsburgh; Malissa (Mastrine) Martin, married to Michael Martin, State College; Sara, Pittsburgh; Amy, Ebensburg; and Julie, Redwood City, Calif.; and great-granddaughter, Katrina Martin, State College. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Nora Mastrine, Arizona; and Ada Mastrine, Enola, Pa.; along with many nieces and nephews. She worked in Detroit during World War II, and later at Jo Ann Dress Factory, Cambria County Detention Home and Laurel Crest in Ebensburg. She lived in Colver for 40 years before moving to Ebensburg for 20 years and later to Cresson. In Colver, she was a member of the ladies sodality. Vera had a good sense of humor and loved to sew in her spare time. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Matevish & Matevish Funeral Home, 307 N. Center St., Ebensburg. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg, Rev. Monsignor David A. Lockard, celebrant. Committal church cemetery.
