HORNE - Rita A. (Litzinger) 78, of Ebensburg, formerly of Patton, passed away May 9, 2014 at Golden Living Center - HAIDA Manor, Hastings. Born March 21, 1936 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Raymond and Bertha (Gabriel) Litzinger. Preceded in death by husband Francis A.Horne; sister, Mary C. Michaels; brother, James V. Litzinger; and father-in-law & mother-in-law, Dennis & Margaret Horne. She is survived by children: Dennis (Teddi) Horne of Ebensburg and Kathy (Wayne) Reeser of Gambrills, Maryland, grandsons: Frank Horne, Ebensburg and Sean Reeser of Oregon; brother: Raymond (Mary K.) Litzinger, Latrobe; and sister-in-law, Eileen Litzinger of Johnstown. She was retired as a teacher for Cambria Heights and served as a volunteer CCD teacher and director for Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Patton. Rita enjoyed teaching, shopping, bowling, walking and golf. She also enjoyed cleaning and tending to her home. Although she had been debilitated with Alzheimer s for many years, she was always good for a big smile. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at St. Mary s Cemetery, Patton. Donations in Rita s memory may be made to the Alzheimer s Association.
