Obituary of Col. John T. Law

LAW Lt. Col. John T., 84, Nanty Glo, died May 10, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 5, 1930, son of the late Michael J. and Sarah (Povalitis) Law. Preceded in death by brother, James M. Law. Survived by wife, Ruth (Nickle) Law, Aberdeen, Md.; sister, Eleanor Doliveria and family; and sister-in-law, Victoria (Castelli) Law and family. John was a 1947 graduate of Nanty Glo High School and gradusted from the University of Neraska at Omaha in 1965. He attended numerous military schools including officer cadet school, advanced officer basic course, transportation officer advanced course, U.S. Air Force liaison pilot school, Army advanced tactical training and U.S. Air Force and U.S. helicopter flight training. He served in the overseas theaters of Korea, Vietnam and Europe. Received awards of the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal in addition to service medals. His service highlights include being pilot for Cardinal Spellman during his Korean visit and support aviator for President John F. Kennedy during his visit to Ireland and England. John retired in 1970. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. John will be missed by his nieces and nephews and all who called him Uncle John. At John s request, a private viewing will be held for his immediate family. VFW Post 155 will be conducting military service.
