Obituary of Irma Tirabassi

TIRABASSI Irma, 91, Ebensburg, died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Nov. 28, 2014, at home. In her final days, she was continuously surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. Born June 27, 1923, in Colver, daughter of Anton and Alma (Pederzolli) Cazara. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Bernie; brother, Benny; and sons-in-law, Bob Barker and Dan James. Survived by children, Donna James, Reston, Va.; Barbara Barker, Ebensburg; Bernie (Joni), Ebensburg; and Annette (Peter) Westerberg, Elmhurst, Ill.; grandchildren, Dominic (Jamie) Tirabassi, Trafford, Pa.; Ben (Melissa), Falls Church, Va.; Angela Tirabassi, Carrolltown; Leah Tirabassi, Altoona; and Kelley and Erik Westerberg, both of Elmhurst, Ill.; and great-grandchildren, Colton Tirabassi and William James. Mrs. T was known for her warm and smiling face at Central Tavern, Ebensburg, where she worked for decades. She was an active member of Holy Name Church, where she volunteered at the church festivals making homemade egg noodles, and as a cafeteria lady at Holy Name School. For the past 25 years, she attended Mass and the rosary on a daily basis. She especially enjoyed socializing with the Valley Girls after Mass. Irma had a warm and welcoming spirit, and she loved her family and friends. Special thanks to Irene Barno and everyone who visited her during the final weeks of her life, also the Home Nursing Agency Hospice. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Monday in the Holy Name Narthex. Funeral Mass at noon Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home Nursing Agency Hospice, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry of Ebensburg or the Angel Fund at Holy Name School in Irma s memory.
