NEWLIN Doris L., 88, of St. Benedict, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away Dec. 17, 2014. Born June 25, 1926 in Bolivar, daughter of the late Clarence Russell and Anna Beatrice (Boring) Gibson. Preceded in death by husband, Clarence; son, Donald; sisters, Beatrice, Nellie, Jean and soul sister, Hilda; brothers, Bud, Bob, Art and Jim. Survived by children, Charles (Donna) Newlin; Ruth (Charles) Cresswell; Florence (John) Symosky; Hope (Damian) Gearhart; and James (Bev) Newlin. 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Gladys Howard; and Hope Magalich; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In her younger days, Doris volunteered through Community Action and assisted with The Second Hand Store in Nanty Glo. She enjoyed playing cards and loved taking care of her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Interment, Bethel United Presbyterian Cemetery, New Florence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris s memory may be made to The American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children s Hospital.
